Welcome to Artarios atelier,
where time softens,
the world grows quiet
and a zibaldone awaits
your sparkling ideas.
Art you can write in
An ancient craft, made for the thoughts of today. Bound by hand with Coptic stitching, each zibaldone opens flat to 180°, giving your hand room to move and your ideas space to unfold.
Where writing becomes a pleasure to return to.
The notebook: a constant companion
Zibaldone
is an Italian word that derives from the word zibaldo
in the Venetian dialect that may have meant
“a medley,” “a mess,” or “a mixture.”
In Medieval and Renaissance Italy, scholars, merchants, and writers kept notebooks called zibaldoni (plural)
where they recorded recipes, business transactions, quotations, poems, ideas, drafts, and thoughts.
These early zibaldoni were practical, working documents, a kind of intellectual or commercial scrapbook.
One of the earliest known zibaldoni is the Zibaldone da Canal,
a 14th-c.Venetian merchant's notebook containing prose, poetry, and various annotations.
By keeping a Zibaldone you gain
Creative Freedom & Mental Order
A zibaldone has no rules. It gives you space to think, wander, and connect dots that don’t usually go together. That randomness can lead to unexpected creativity.
A Mind Mirror
It becomes a mirror of your inner world. You can look back and see your evolving thoughts, obsessions, insights, doubts, the raw material of identity and creativity.
Historical & Personal Continuity
By keeping one, you’re participating in a centuries-old tradition — from Venetian merchants to Giacomo Leopardi to Leonardo da Vinci to modern writers and thinkers.
Writing without Performance
Unlike blogs or social posts, a zibaldone is private by default — which makes it honest. There’s no audience, no algorithm.
Just you and the page :)
